About the Company

Our client is a growing international FinTech company developing payment infrastructure for businesses across Australia and global markets. The company operates within the Australian regulatory environment and is expanding its banking and payment partner network across Australia and selected APAC GEOs.

About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Business Development Manager with strong expertise in the Australian payments ecosystem and hands-on experience building banking and payment partnerships.

The main focus of the role is to identify, negotiate, onboard, and develop relationships with banks, acquirers, payment providers, processors, NPP / PayID providers, FX and settlement partners.

This is a strategic and hands-on partnerships role — not a lead-generation-only position. You will be responsible for turning partner relationships into compliant, commercially viable payment capabilities that can be launched and scaled.

Responsibilities

• Build and develop long-term relationships with Australian banks, ADIs, acquirers, payment providers, processors, NPP / PayID providers, FX, settlement and payout partners.
• Identify and launch new solutions for domestic and cross-border pay-ins, payouts, bank transfers, acquiring, settlement and FX.
• Own the full partnership lifecycle: sourcing, negotiations, due diligence, contracting, onboarding, integration, testing and go-live.
• Negotiate pricing, settlement terms, reserves, transaction limits, SLAs and other commercial conditions.
• Develop payment infrastructure for high-risk and regulated merchant verticals.
• Build and execute the partnership development strategy for Australia and selected APAC GEOs.
• Work closely with Product, Technology, Operations, Finance, Legal, Compliance and Risk teams.
• Represent the company at industry events and develop its network across the Australian and APAC payments ecosystem.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in Business Development / Strategic Partnerships within Payments, FinTech or regulated financial services.
• Strong hands-on experience with banking and payment partnerships in Australia.
• Existing network across Australian banks, acquirers, payment companies, fintechs and other financial infrastructure providers.
• Proven experience sourcing, negotiating, onboarding and launching new payment or banking partnerships.
• Strong expertise in high-risk and regulated merchant verticals.
• Understanding of bank transfers, NPP / PayID, card acquiring, merchant payouts, cross-border payments, FX and digital asset on/off-ramp models.
• Experience within an AUSTRAC-registered remittance provider, DCE / VASP, AFSL-regulated business or a similar regulated payments environment.
• Strong commercial and negotiation skills.
• Full professional proficiency in English.
• Legal right to work in Australia and willingness to travel across Australia and APAC when required.

Will Be an Advantage

• Existing relationships with payment and banking partners across APAC.
• Experience launching NPP / PayID, acquiring, payouts, FX, remittance or digital asset payment solutions.
• Experience building payment infrastructure from scratch or working in a scale-up environment.

Conditions

• Brisbane-based office or remote format.
• Full-time position.
• Regular travel across Australia and APAC.
• Competitive compensation package with a performance-based component.
• High level of ownership and direct influence on the development of payment infrastructure in Australia and APAC.
• Opportunity to build and scale a regional partner ecosystem within an international FinTech group.
